Ford E-Transit Custom

Ford Motor Company’s commercial vehicle division, Ford Pro has now announced all the details of the all-electric E-Transit Custom, which is scheduled to go into production in the second half of 2023. Above all, its trailer load of up to two tons should make you take notice right away.
Ford’s customers can choose between two electric drives; 100kW or 160kW. The maximum torque for both variants is specified as 415 Newton metres but Ford does not specify any top speed figures. The chassis with an independent suspension system on the rear axle should ensure pleasant drive comfort.
A 400-volt battery with a usable energy content of 74kWh provides the necessary energy. It uses the same technology used in the Ford F-150 Lightning and has a twelve percent higher energy density than the battery used in the larger E-Transit.
The E-Transit Custom should be able to cover 380 kilometres on a full charge (WLTP). It can be charged from 15 to 80 percent in around 40 minutes using a DC charging facility. With the 11kW onboard charger, a complete charging process takes around eight hours.
Ford E-Transit can deliver electricity with Ford’s “ProPower Onboard” system. It is also available for the E-Transit Custom as an option. These are household sockets inside the vehicle in order to be able to supply power to electrical tools, additional lighting or even a laptop. The power output is up to 2.3kW.
In the looks department, the new E-Transit Custom feels more like a facelift of the current generation. With the usual panel van shape, the designers’ hands are tied in many areas, and yet, there were noticeable differences.
In direct comparison with the current Transit Custom generation, the vehicle floor is visibly deeper. Ford does not specify exactly how deep it is but it is intended to make loading and unloading the back easier, as well as providing easy access for the passengers to get in and out. With its flat roof, the vehicle is less than two metres high.
