When BMW launched the i3 in 2013, demand for a small electric BMW was seemingly low. The model was also often laughed at as an eco dream simply unsuitable for everyday use. However, the demand for i3 kept growing over the years and is now substantial. Since new models are rarely found, used models are also very popular.
BMW i3 is one of the first EVs that prove electricity can also make for a pleasurable driving experience. The key to this lies in the combination of a 125 kW (170 hp) synchronous electric motor with an exceptionally low vehicle weight thanks to the carbon-fibre body.
The BMW i3 is able to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and using the 21.6 kWh energy content of the lithium-ion battery from Samsung, it can travel up to a range of 190 km/h. If that’s not enough, BMW offers an alternative: the i3 with a range extender.
For the range extender model, BMW took the petrol engine from the company’s motorcycle department (C 600 scooter), coupled it with a generator and put it in the back of the i3. When the battery runs out, this emergency power generator switches on automatically and doubles the range for the price of 9 litres of petrol.
The battery can be charged overnight with any socket in six to eight hours. The i3 can also search where the next charging socket is via BMW ConnectedDrive, and show it to you on the car’s display or your smartphone. The i3 can also be preheated or precooled using your smartphone, depending on the weather.

Book a day and time for your installation. If you ordered your EV charger with revcharge, you will receive it before this date.
If you want an existing charger installed, just let your technician know when booking an installation date.
Once the EV charger is in place, the technician can also help you connect any apps for the charger and show you how to use them.

1. Answer: After you fill out a quote request form, you’ll be sent a text message to complete your request on your smartphone. This will include taking and sending photos of your switchboard, desired charger location and more. All of these questions have been carefully curated to ensure we provide you with a fixed-quote.
2. Choose: Our quotes include a recommended EV charger based on our assessment of your home as well as two alternative EV chargers for you to choose from. All options include the delivery, installation and activation of the EV charger quoted at a fixed price — making it easy for you to choose. We also have an installation only service for homeowners looking to have an existing EV charger installed and activated by a technician.
3. Install: We’ll then send you an invoice for payment. If you ordered your EV charger with revcharge, you will receive it before this date. If you have an existing charger you want installed, just let your technician know when booking your installation. Once the EV charger is in place, the installer can also help you connect any apps for the charger and show you how to use it.
